The presidential debates organised by the debates Media committee is absolutely of no significance. First, the contestants have no time since they have tight campaign schedules. There is a big difference between candidates who have miniature following of less than 1% and much more popular candidates with over 40% following. There is no way they can be placed under the same platform.
secondly, the most popular candidates taking over 40% have a greater possible of winning the presidency seat and as such deserve a separate platform on which value of time can be created and in which Kenyans can have ample time to interrogate the contenders on issues.
Thirdly, Some candidates who haven't displayed any seriousness and who are not drumming up any support, have deliberately intended to hijack the platform to use it as purely a campaign tool to reach out to potential supported.
Lastly, the debate organizers did not engage the contestants on several issues regarding the nature of the debate. Although the debates provide a suitable avenue for the public to interview the contestants, the debates are rendered irrelevant by the Manifestos which display a blue print of the party agenda and ambition. Even the politicians know well that everything they will deliberate on are captured in their manifesto, campaigns and the numerous media fora they attend daily to answer to the public like, Radio, Television, Newspaper, Music and others.
