I think I have finally figured what is going on in the sugar industry. I'm looking at the other subsidiary industries in agriculture and I'm convinced the government is chief suspect in this perennial problem. Sugar problem is an economic sabotage to the people living around the sugar belt. Now this is my opinion.
The genesis of sugar problem in the market is the Jubilee government itself. Immediately Jubilee came into power, sugar companies started crumbling piece by piece. A people who are economically disempowered are also politically disenfranchised. Political muscles are supported by a skeleton of economic power.
Am saying the death of sugar factories was a well orchestrated onslaught against the people of western Kenya. This is why the sugar cartels are an interconnected framework of sub-cartels touching on those to whom the back of governance of this country stops. Paralysing or murdering the sugar industry means economic disempowerment of the Western part of Kenya with a view of reducing their political weight and influence.
Now you know why compelling Dr Fred Matiangi to face PSC over contraband sugar is a vain attempt. There's no way he'll implicate his bosses. Look at coffee and Tea industries mostly in central and Rift Valley respectively, they are doing marvelous enjoying government protection and with effective policy reforms which ensures they don't suffer from smuggled cheap imports, privatization and intrusion.
The only person who can fix sugar problem, sugar industry and sugar companies is the government and as such president Uhuru and WSM are the men to blame for the ailing sugar industry. Today a Kilogram of sugar has shot up to ksh 140.
